Nice Ninjas was founded by EJ, a Harlem-raised teen with a big heart and an even bigger vision. What began as a simple act of kindness—handing out warm, homemade soup to neighbors in need—quickly grew into a youth-led movement dedicated to spreading joy, building community, and inspiring young people to make a difference.

At just 10 years old, EJ realized something powerful: you don't have to wait until you're a grown-up to change the world. She created Nice Ninjas to prove that young people aren't just the leaders of tomorrow—they can lead today.

​

Now a student at Phillips Exeter Academy, EJ continues to champion that vision alongside a growing Youth Advisory Board and a wonderful community of volunteers, families, and partners who believe in the power of kindness.

Together, these Nice Ninjas have reached more than 2000 families across New York City and surrounding communities through programs including:

• Back-to-School Celebrations: Helping children start the school year with confidence through backpacks, school supplies, and plenty of encouragement.

• Halloween Spooktacular: Giving children the chance to choose their own Halloween costumes and enjoy a little extra holiday magic—at no cost to their families.

• Birthdays, Books & Board Games: Bringing families together through books, games, and screen-free fun.

• Dear Santa & Winter Wishes: Spreading holiday cheer through gifts, thoughtful surprises, and a little extra support for families during the winter season.

• Community Kindness Projects: From distributing meals and essential supplies to organizing seasonal giving initiatives, our young leaders find creative ways to show up for their neighbors.

 

Beyond these events, Nice Ninjas organizes kindness challenges throughout the year, encouraging young people to turn compassion into action and discover just how much impact even the smallest gesture can have.
